The Mets are close to a deal with relief pitcher Brandon Lyon, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.

One source cautions the deal isn't yet completed, but the two sides are in serious discussions. If the signing is completed, Lyon would mark the third relief addition the Mets have recently made, joining new additions LaTroy Hawkins and Scott Atchison.

Lyon, 33, appeared in 67 games between Toronto and Houston in 2012, allowing a 3.10 ERA (134 ERA+) with a sharp 3.15 K/BB. He would bring closer experience to the Mets, as he has 79 career saves, with most coming with Arizona (14 in 2005, 26 in 2008) and Houston (20 in 2010). For his career, Lyon owns a 4.12 ERA (109 ERA+) over 647 innings.
