Just four years ago, Mike Trout was doing this thing for Millville (New Jersey) High School. Now a superstar in Major League Baseball, Trout is set to see his alma mater name its varsity baseball field after him.
Trout has donated $20,000 to the school for improvements to the baseball field and BodyArmor Superdrink -- which has an endorsement deal with Trout -- is sponsoring the team for another $10,000. So the Millville Board of Education approved the sponsorship and naming the field after Trout.
"Mike has helped us so much," said baseball coach Roy Hallenbeck, who coached Trout during his career at Millville (Philly.com). "It sounds weird to say, but it's not so much the physical help in terms of the money but just the fact that it meant enough to him when he was here that he wants to do these things."
No word on the official name. What sounds best?
- Mike Trout Ballpark
- Mike Trout Park
- Mike Trout Field
- Mike Trout Stadium
I think I like Ballpark.
