Montreal Expos gone but not forgotten
Though the Montreal Expos haven't played a game since Oct. 3, 2004, they remain near and dear to the hearts of many fans in Quebec and other surrounding areas. The proof? Thursday -- that is, March 14, 2013 -- Expos Nation website launched and also announced a July event.

Though the Montreal Expos haven't played a game since Oct. 3, 2004, they remain near and dear to the hearts of many fans in Quebec and other surrounding areas. The proof? Thursday -- that is, March 14, 2013 -- Expos Nation website launched and also announced a July event.
Prior to this date, Expos Nation was only a Facebook page, though it had more than 150,000 fans.
The website now has a famous fan in the form of Vladimir Guerrero, too. Here's what Guerrero wrote:
Dear ExposNation,
I will always remember my time in Montreal, being an EXPO is something I will always be.
My time in Montreal allowed me to continue my career in a positive direction. I felt at home there!
Sincerely,
Vladimir Guerrero #27
Also, there's an event this coming July:
Buoyed by popular demand, ExposNation members will attend a Toronto Blue Jays game on July 20, 2013, as a demonstration of support to Major League Baseball, the media, and prospective investors and owners that Montreal baseball fans are alive and well and want a team back in the region. Interested Expos fans are invited to purchase tickets at www.bluejays.com/expos to join the ExposNation contingent. Former Expos manager and Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Jim Fanning is expected to once again join ExposNation fans in the stands, as well as other noteworthy personalities.
There's also a website called the Montreal Baseball Project, which is planning a gala in 2014 to honor the outstanding 1994 team. That ballclub was 74-40, good for the best record in baseball, when the strike prematurely ended the season.
I'm not sure there's a legitimate chance at expansion anywhere in the future, but what if a team -- such as the Rays? -- is forced to move? Would Montreal ever get another shot at a team? Tough call, but the zeal from die-hard Expos fans is still nice to see.
