Indians first baseman Nick Swisher, who has been out of the starting lineup since June 15, is expected to return Sunday or Monday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
"I felt great again," Swisher said after working out before Saturday's game against the Twins. "I had a super great time out there. Now I'll sit down and talk to Tito (manager Terry Francona) and shoot for playing Sunday. If not Sunday, Monday. Either one, it's up to them to decide."
Said Francona: "I told him, 'Let's play this by ear.' If you're raring to go Sunday, good. If you think one more day puts more gas in the tank, let me know. I don't want him down for five or six days and not have it be productive. The good news is he's coming. It will probably be Sunday, if not, it will be the next day."
Swisher is hitting .237/.337/.402 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in 224 at-bats.
