Wei-Yin Chen undergoes successful knee surgery

Orioles pitcher Wei-Yin Chen has undergone successful surgery to remove bone chips in his knee, the team announced Thursday.

The minor operation is not expected to affect his availability for the beginning of spring training. Chen went 7-7 with a 4.07 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 104:39 K:BB ratio in 137 innings in 2013.
