Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira came through with a key, game-tying home run in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Rays. With the Yankees down 3-0, Teixeira belted a three-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning, propelling the game into extras.
The home run was Teixeria's 20th of the season, giving him at least 20 dingers in all but one season of his 13-year career.
Teixeira has been struggling at the plate, as even with the 2 for 4 effort on Friday, he is batting .222 with nine strikeouts over his last 10 games.
