Dominguez has signed a minor league contract with the Giants, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
Dominguez managed just three more strikeouts (20) than walks (17) in 35.2 innings with the Padres in 2016, ultimately leading to his removal from the 40-man roster. The right-hander does feature an intriguing repertoire of pitches and is still just 26, but he's been unable to miss bats or find the strike zone consistently at the major league level.

Dominguez has elected free agency after being outrighted to Triple-A by the Padres, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Dominguez tossed a career-high 35.2 innings at the big league level for the Padres in 2016, carrying a 5.05 ERA and 1.43 WHIP and striking out batters at a surprisingly low 5.0 K/9 clip despite a big fastball (average velocity: 96.0 mph). The hard-throwing right-hander will likely draw interest in the form of a minor league deal with another club this winter.

Signed to a minor league deal in the offseason, Dominguez spent some time with the big league club in spring training but did not fare well. While he's been OK in terms of run prevention in 27 appearances with Triple-A El Paso this season, walks have been a major issue (25 in 35.2 innings) and he won't be up for long if he can't limit the free passes.
