Casey Kelly: Heading to KBO
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly signed a contract with the LG Twins of the Korean Baseball Organization on Tuesday, Dan Kurtz of reports.

Kelly spent most of this season at Triple-A Sacramento but did make seven appearances with the Giants, posting a 3.04 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB over 23.2 innings. The 29-year-old has seen major-league action with the Padres, Braves and Giants since debuting in 2012, with 2018 in San Francisco being his longest -- by innings -- and most successful stint.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Solid in spot-start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly (0-3) took the loss while limiting the Padres to two runs on six hits with three strikeouts over five innings Wednesday.

Kelly was afforded a rare start with the Giants opting to push Madison Bumgarner back to Friday to face the rival Dodgers. The swingman needed 71 pitches (47 strikes) to complete five frames, but a lack of run support resulted in his second loss as a starter this year. Despite carrying a 3.04 ERA over 23.2 innings, Kelly doesn't figure into the club's rotation plans in 2019.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Earns start vs. Padres
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly will start Wednesday's contest against San Diego, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Kelly will take the place of Madison Bumgarner, who was moved back to Friday in order to pitch against the Dodgers. In his most recent appearance in St. Louis on Sunday, Kelly allowed two runs while striking out two in one inning of relief. He's only made three starts at the big-league level this year, all coming in August.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Candidate to start in near future
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly could start Sept. 26 against San Diego, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The Giants might slip Kelly into the rotation before the season ends, in an attempt to send Madison Bumgarner to the mound against the Dodgers on Sept. 28. Kelly has made five appearances for San Francisco this season, posting a 2.04 ERA with 11 strikeouts over 17.2 frames.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Called up to big leagues
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Giants recalled Kelly from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic Bay Area reports.

With Sacramento's season coming to an end Monday, the Giants will bring Kelly aboard along with fellow Triple-A hurlers Pierce Johnson and Steven Okert to provide some bullpen depth throughout September. Kelly has made four appearances (two starts) for the Giants this season, tallying a 2.16 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB across 16.2 innings.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Optioned to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly was sent down to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Kelly was cast off the active roster upon the return of Dereck Rodriguez (hamstring) from the DL in a corresponding move. During two starts with the Giants over the past week, Kelly allowed five runs (three earned) while striking out six across 10.1 innings. Look for him to rejoin the big-league club as a reliever in September.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Drops second decision
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly (0-2) took the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits over six innings while striking out four as the Giants fell 5-3 to the Mets.

Brandon Crawford had an uncharacteristically bad night with the glove behind Kelly, committing two errors -- otherwise the right-hander would have battled Noah Syndergaard to a standstill. Kelly may have pitched well enough to keep his spot in the rotation even after Dereck Rodriguez (hamstring) comes off the disabled list, and if he stays on turn he would next take on the Diamondbacks at home Monday.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Scheduled to start Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly will start Wednesday's game against the Mets, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

With Dereck Rodriguez (hamstring) joining the likes of Johnny Cueto (elbow) and Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) on the disabled list last week, Kelly will benefit from a second turn through the San Francisco rotation. Kelly made his first start in the big leagues since 2016 over the weekend against the Reds, scattering nine hits and a walk but allowing only one run over 4.1 innings in a no-decision. He'll likely need a better performance Wednesday to stick in the rotation with Rodriguez slated to return from the DL on Friday.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Holds Reds in check in short outing
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 2-1 extra-innings loss to the Reds, allowing one run on nine hits and a walk over 4.1 innings while striking out two.

Making his first big-league start since he was a Brave in 2016, Kelly was limited to 73 pitches (49 strikes) but was able to keep Cincinnati from doing too much damage despite a constant flow of baserunners. The 28-year-old has a 1.69 ERA through his first 10.2 innings with the Giants, but his 5:3 K:BB suggests he's been more lucky than good. Nonetheless, he'll probably remain in the rotation for now, putting him on track to make his next start Wednesday on the road against the Mets.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Draws start Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly will start Friday's game against the Reds, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Dereck Rodriguez hit the disabled list with a hamstring injury, so Kelly will take his spot in the rotation for at least Friday's game. Kelly's recent five-inning performance in relief vaulted him into consideration for a rotation spot, and the Rodriguez injury opened the door. Kelly did throw 1.1 innings against the Dodgers on Wednesday, so he may not be able to go deep into Friday's start.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Makes case for rotation opportunity
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly fired five scoreless innings in relief while allowing two hits and striking out three in Saturday's loss to the Pirates.

Kelly was strong in relief after Ty Blach struggled in a spot-start. The 28-year-old drew praise from manager Bruce Bochy after the game, and was mentioned as a potential option to start next weekend against the Reds. The Giants technically don't need a fifth starter with a scheduled off day Thursday, but the club may opt to see what they have in Kelly as they continue to fall out of contention. The righty posted a 4.78 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 23 starts in the minors prior to his recent callup, so fantasy owners should exercise caution even if the club decides to start him down the stretch.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Contract selected by Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly's contract was selected by the Giants on Friday.

After some initial confusion, Kelly was officially called up prior to Friday's contest against the Pirates. He's a candidate to start Saturday against Pittsburgh or be a long-relief option behind Ty Blach. The 28-year-old Kelly has a 6.39 career ERA in 62 major-league innings, the last of which came back in 2016.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Not yet called up
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly is with the Giants on their taxi squad but has not yet been called up, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Contrary to previous reports, Kelly is not yet on the Giants' roster. The team is still undecided about who will start Saturday. Kelly could potentially get the call or be available as a long reliever behind Ty Blach.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Recalled from Sacramento
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly was called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group reports.

Kelly hasn't pitched in a major-league game since 2016 with the Braves, so it's unlikely that he will see any time in high-leverage spots, though there's a chance he could be called upon to start Saturday's contest. Across 23 starts with Sacramento this year, he's logged a 4.78 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 104 strikeouts in 130 innings.

Giants' Casey Kelly: Signs with Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly inked a minor-league contract with the Giants on Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Kelly has bounced around the minors in recent years, with San Francisco being the latest stop in the 27-year-old's professional career. During 12 starts with Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs' farm system earlier this year, Kelly recorded a 4.73 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and a 43:23 K:BB. He provides some depth for the Giants moving forward, but will likely remain with Triple-A Sacramento for the rest of the season.

Cubs' Casey Kelly: Signs minor league deal with Cubs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

The results for Kelly at the major league level have been less than stellar and he's dealt with a variety of injuries since breaking into the league (including Tommy John surgery). It's difficult to imagine he would be entrusted with meaningful innings on a team like the Cubs at any point during the 2017 season.

Braves' Casey Kelly: Gets optioned Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday, Kevin McAlpin of BravesRadioNet reports.

With John Gant landing on the DL on Tuesday, Atlanta was in need of another starting pitcher to fill the void and Lucas Harrell got the call while Kelly was sent to Triple-A. Kelly, who's now made four stints with the Braves this season, struggled in June giving up nine earned runs over 9.2 innings (8.38 ERA). He'll head back to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he'll reassume a 4.09 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 50.2 innings.

Braves' Casey Kelly: Gets recalled Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Kelly will be recalled for the fourth time this season as John Gant lands on the 15-day with an oblique strain. Kelly has posted a 5.79 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 18.7 innings this season with Atlanta. With Gwinnett he faired better, sporting a 4.09 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 50.2 innings. He'll likely provide bullpen depth during his most recent stay in the majors.

Braves' Casey Kelly: Optioned to Gwinnett
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The Braves recalled Tyrell Jenkins on Thursday, so the move to option Kelly comes in response to the need to free up a roster spot. Kelly has struggled this season and is coming off of a poor outing Wednesday, when he allowed three earned runs on four hits through one inning. If Kelly is able to get things straightened out at Gwinnett, he could return to Atlanta later in the summer.

Braves' Casey Kelly: Could start Sunday against Cubs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kelly has been used in relief each of the past two days, but could still be an option to slot into the rotation Sunday against the Cubs if Williams Perez (triceps) is unable to make that start.

He has been pretty solid in relief for the Braves, and he has a 2.89 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in six starts for Triple-A Gwinnett, but Sunday's potential matchup would be one to avoid. His 23:17 K:BB as a starter in the minors is alarming, and he will be below average in the strikeout department as a big league starter, so the Cubs offense could hang a high number on him if he indeed gets the nod.
