NBA Free Agency: Patty Mills, Spurs agree to reported 4-year, $50M deal
Patty Mills remains in the fold in San Antonio, and in relatively quick order
Patty Mills is staying with the Spurs. After a successful season with San Antonio there was potential for Mills to find a new home in free agency. However, it didn't take long to reach an agreement for him to stay, because the deal was announced at 12:01 a.m. ET on July 1.
According to ESPN, Mills and the Spurs agreed up on a 4-year $50 million deal for Mills. That's not breaking the bank by any means, but it's a hefty contract for someone who has been a backup point guard most of his career.

That could change. Mills already was close to current starter, Tony Parker, in minutes and every year Parker isn't getting any younger. A starting job could present itself to Mills in the near future with this contract.
San Antonio also could continue using Mills as an energy type guard off the bench. He has been effective for 20-25 minutes a night.
