Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune Friday that he is looking to sell a minority share of his team to a partner who would eventually take over as majority owner of the club. From the Star-Tribune

"I could find somebody to buy the team. That's not my problem," Taylor said at his office at Taylor Corp., a privately held printing and marketing giant. "I have to find someone that's committed to here. It's always best if it would be a Minnesotan. I'm telling you I don't know that's the way it's going to work out. I haven't had a lot of Minnesotans step up."

"Now's the time to do it," Taylor said. "We've negotiated the CBA for 10 years so people can see what the finances are. I think if I could get the building thing taken care of, that would enhance it for somebody coming in. So I can see if I got myself through a bunch of the problem stuff, I think I can bring in a partner."

Taylor turning over the team to someone else would have huge effects. For starters, Taylor has been a loud and influential voice on the NBA's Board of Governors and an architect of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Taylor is also a longtime friend of Commissioner David Stern His departure could lead to changes in how the owners interact with the Commissioner's office.

Additionally, if Taylor has been guilty of anything, it's been too much loyalty, often sticking with players and personnel past the reasonable length of a leash. With a small-market-friendly CBA, a roster built around Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio, and future flexibility, new ownership could breathe some life into the franchise and take them to the next level. Not that Rick Adelman is having a hard time doing that anyway.

Taylor's clearly looking to protect the Wolves from moving, a familiar refrain in the NBA as of late, and it's been effective.  It doesn't appear that the Seattle Timberwolves will be appearing anywhere any time soon. But change is on the horizon for the Wolves.
