Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: To start if Zion sits
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

If Zion Williamson is unable to play, Melli will enter the starting lineup Thursday against Utah, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.

It sounds like Williamson will be a game-time call, but in the event he's ruled out, Melli would become a fairly attractive DFS option at a discounted prices. Melli averaged 10.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in nine games after the All-Star break.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Solid off bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli posted 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt), six rebounds, two assists and a block in 27 minutes during the Pelicans' 118-109 loss to the Lakers.

After recording a career-high 20 points on Sunday, Melli reached double-digit scoring again. He was the only Pelican to score more than three points off the bench. It seems as if Melli will be in line for a 20-30 minute role depending on game tempo, as his floor-spacing status represents a valuable contrast from Derrick Favors and Zion Williamson.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Hits six triples in victory
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli amassed 20 points (7-8 FG, 6-7 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 23 minutes during Sunday's 115-101 victory over the Warriors.

Melli had the hot hand Sunday, pouring in a game-high six 3-pointers in another impressive shooting display. Melli is unlikely to shoot this well on a nightly basis; however, he clearly has the green light when he's on the floor and could be a sneaky source of perimeter scoring now that he's regularly seeing 20-plus minutes.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Flirts with double-double off bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli finished with 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-8 3Pt), nine rebounds, three assists and one block across 28 minutes Tuesday in the Pelicans' 138-117 win over the Trail Blazers.

Melli lost his spot in the starting five with Zion Williamson (ankle) back from a one-game absence, but the former was still able to deliver a credible performance off the bench. The 29-year-old rookie has been much improved of late after a rough start to the season, converting 41.7 percent of his three-point attempts while grabbing 5.0 boards per game through five February contests.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Returns to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Trail Blazers, Andrew Lopez of reports.

The 29-year-old made the start Saturday against the Pacers and had nine points, six rebounds, one assist and one block in 24 minutes, but he'll return to the bench with Zion Williamson (ankle) back in action Tuesday. Melli figures to see closer to his 15.8-minute average versus Portland.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Receiving spot start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli is in the starting lineup Saturday against the Pacers, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.

The 29-year-old will make his sixth start of the season with Zion Williamson (ankle) sidelined Saturday. Melli should see a heavily increased role at Indiana, especially since Brandon Ingram (ankle) is also unavailable.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Solid production as substitute
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli had 15 points (6-11 FG, 3-8 3PT), five rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 29 minutes off the bench during Monday's 126-116 win at Memphis.

Melli has logged 20 or more minutes in four of his last five contests, but he has topped the 10-point mark just twice over that span. Both his playing time and scoring figures have been wildly inconsistent during the entire season and while he can operate as a solid scoring alternative off the bench, his upside will be minimal until he can find a regular role in the rotation, something he has been unable to accomplish thus far.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Pushed to bench Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli will come off the bench for Saturday's game against the Clippers, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.

Melli will return to his usual bench role with J.J. Redick making his return from a three-game absence. Look for Melli to see his usual allotment of around 15 minutes in his return to backup duties.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Career night against Pistons
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli recorded 20 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 37 minutes during Monday's 117-110 overtime victory against the Pistons.

Melli finished with career highs in scoring and minutes while swiping two steals for the third straight game. With that being said, Derrick Favors (hamstring) could be ready to return for Thursday's matchup versus the Jazz, plus there's also a chance Zion Williamson (knee) will be making his regular season debut. As such, Melli may not be nearly as involved against Utah.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Draws spot start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli is starting Monday against Detroit.

Melli will draw his fourth start of the season with Brandon Ingram (knee) and Kenrich Williams (back) both out Monday. Melli is coming off a decent performance Saturday against Boston, finishing with seven points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Solid line in 20 minutes
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli managed seven points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 20 minutes during Saturday's 140-105 loss to the Celtics.

Melli saw at least 20 minutes for the first time since Dec. 3, as Derrick Favors (hamstring) being out resulted in more playing time for the team's trio of backup big men. Favors is listed as day-to-day so it's possible Melli could be in line for another night of decent burn during Monday's matchup versus the Pistons.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Not part of rotation versus 76ers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli (DNP-Coach's Decision) did not see the floor in Friday's 116-109 loss to the 76ers.

Melli remained glued to the bench with Derrick Favors (personal) back in the lineup. Jaxson Hayes and Jahlil Okafor combined to play 33 minutes while Favors was limited to 15 minutes as expected. At this point, Melli can be avoided across most formats.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Scoreless in Friday's defeat
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli managed zero points (0-4 FG, 0-4 3Pt) and one steal in 11 minutes during Friday's 109-104 loss to the Thunder.

Melli failed to capitalize on the opportunity provided by the early exit of starting power forward Kenrich Williams (ankle). While Jaxson Hayes and Jahlil Okafor split minutes at center, Melli barely factored into the equation, with coach Alvin Gentry instead opting for smaller lineups for the vast majority of the matchup. If Williams remains sidelined for Sunday's rematch versus the Thunder, Melli could potentially start in his place. Nevertheless, his lack of mobility limits his effectiveness at that position, and Melli likely isn't much more than a dart throw in daily leagues.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Well-rounded line in Tuesday's win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli finished with 14 points (4-10 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 115-104 win over the Trail Blazers.

Melli was extremely impressive while earning six more minutes than fellow rookie center Jaxson Hayes, who drew the start in place of Derrick Favors (back spasms). Melli amassed career highs in rebounding and assists while matching his best steal total, and he has also earned at least 27 minutes in three straight games. If Favors remains sidelined for Thursday's matchup versus the Suns, Melli could be in line to see lots of minutes once again.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Drills five treys
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli put up 16 points (5-8 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes Sunday in the Pelicans' 108-100 win over the Warriors.

Due to the Pelicans' slew of injuries, Melli was handed 20-plus minutes for the second straight day and delivered some useful production from beyond the arc. With a 39.4 percent mark from beyond the arc this season, Melli represents an appealing three-point streamer when plenty of minutes are up for grabs. It's unclear if the elevated run will last beyond Sunday, however, as the Pelicans could get one or more of their eight injured players back for their next game Tuesday against Portland.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Resurfaces in rotation
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli played a season-high 28 minutes off the bench Saturday in the Pelicans' 109-94 win over the Heat, finishing with 10 points (3-9 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Melli had fallen out of the Pelicans' rotation earlier this month, but with New Orleans down to just 10 players to begin Saturday's game and losing two more (Frank Jackson and Derrick Favors) in the first half, the rookie big man took on an expanded role off the bench. As usual, the 28-year-old did most of his damage on offense from beyond the arc, but the three steals were a pleasant surprise. With none of the team's nine injured players a lock to be available Sunday against the Warriors, Melli could be looking at another 20-plus-minute role.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Coming off bench Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli will come off the bench Saturday against the Hornets, Daniel Sallerson of the Pelicans Radio Network reports.

After three straight appearances drawing a start, Melli will come off the bench, as coach Alvin Gentry has decided to give Kenrich Williams the nod at power forward. Across four games coming off the bench, Melli has averaged 7.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 14.3 minutes.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Terrible night in starting role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli totaled just two points and one block in 10 minutes during Friday's 122-104 loss to the Raptors.

Melli started for the Pelicans but produced basically nothing during his limited time on the floor. This was simply a matchup move by the coaching staff and he will likely shift back to the bench for the Pelicans next game against the Hornets. Melli has the ability to get hot from the perimeter but a serious lack of consistency renders him a non-factor in the majority of leagues.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Starting Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli will start Friday's matchup against the Raptors, Andrew Lopez of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Melli was taken out of the starting five for Monday's game against the Nets and ended up not seeing any time on the court. In the six games he has played, Melli is averaging 6.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 14.3 minutes.

Pelicans' Nicolo Melli: Back to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melli will come off the bench Monday against Brooklyn, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.

Melli has started each of the last two games, but he's headed for a reserve role Monday. He's averaging 7.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in four contests off the bench this year.
