Cavaliers' Dwyane Wade: Named starting shooting guard
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wade will open the season as the Cavaliers' starting shooting guard, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports.

Coach Tyronn Lue was considering bringing Wade off the bench as the lead ball-handler with the second unit, but will instead sub Derrick Rose out early in the first quarter and then run him with the second unit. That means Wade will see plenty of time as the top facilitator with the starters when Rose heads to the bench, which is certainly beneficial for his overall fantasy value. Wade could still have a tough time matching his 2016-17 averages of 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals across 29.9 minutes due to the increase in talent around him. J.R. Smith will come off the bench to start the year in the corresponding move.

Cavaliers' Dwyane Wade: Out for rest Sunday vs. Wizards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wade will sit out Sunday's preseason matchup against the Wizards for rest, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reports.

Wade joins a long list of Cavaliers getting the night off Sunday. With very limited bodies available, all active bodies should see a fairly sizable workload. Look for Wade to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Bulls.

Cavaliers' Dwyane Wade: Racks up 20 in preseason loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wade posted 20 points (10-14 FG, 0-2 FT), five rebounds and a steal across 22 minutes in Friday's 106-102 preseason loss to the Pacers.

With Isaiah Thomas (hip) presumably unavailable until December, Wade will see a lot of minutes as a placeholder in the Cavs backcourt, but Friday's preseason game turned out to be an assist-free evening for the former Chicago Bull, instead ceding most of the work at the 1 to Derrick Rose. While Kevin Love and LeBron James' roles on the team are evident, it will take some time to see exactly what Tyronn Lue will settle on with the rest of the rotation. Wade is assured solid minutes until Thomas is back, but it's still too soon to tell what side of the stat line he'll fill.

Cavaliers' Dwyane Wade: Solid debut Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wade accumulated seven points (3-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and one steal across 15 minutes during Wednesday's 109-93 loss to the Hawks.

Wade racked up the most assists on the team Wednesday, which makes sense considering coach Tyronn Lue has had him working with the second unit as a point guard in practice. It will be interesting to see how his role changes once LeBron James enters the lineup, however.

Cavaliers' Dwyane Wade: To start Wednesday's preseason opener
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wade will draw the start at small forward for Wednesday's preseason opener against the Hawks, John Michael of the Cavaliers Radio Network reports.

Wade will join J.R. Smith in the starting five, which is devoid of LeBron James (ankle). Their intended regular season lineup is still unknown, though the shooting guard spot seems to be a battle between Smith and Wade.
