Bills' Marquise Goodwin comes up short in bid to make Olympics in long jump
Goodwin finishes seventh at Olympic trials in Oregon
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin won't be heading to his second summer Olympics after finishing seventh in Sunday's men's long jump final at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
Only the top three U.S. men earn Olympic spots. Goodwin, who jumped 8.25m (27 feet, 3/4 inches) in the final, finished 10th in the long jump at the 2012 London Games.
Goodwin won two long-jump national titles in college as a dual-sport star at Texas. He eked into Sunday's final by snagging the 12th and final spot with a jump of 25-8 on his second try after faulting on his first jump.
Despite failing to make his second Olympic team, Goodwin was upbeat in a tweet he posted after the event.
God made me a winner today; not by winning a medal/ spot to #Rio2016 but by overcoming my fear of losing. Thank You Lord for opportunity 🙏🏾

With no Olympics on the horizon, Goodwin can now focus on his other career: Playing wide receiver for the NFL's Bills. Buffalo opens training camp July 30 at St. John Fisher College, Pittsford, N.Y. and kicks off the preseason against the Colts on Aug. 13.
