Browns sign quarterbacks Vince Young, Tyler Thigpen
The Browns have added quarterback depth, signing quarterbacks Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen to backup Brian Hoyer.
The Browns have agreed to terms with Tyler Thigpen on a contract, according to league sources, and also with former first-round pick Vince Young.
Congrats to our client Vince Young! We new you could do it. Great opportunity with the @Browns— Denise White (@DeniseWhite_EAG) May 1, 2014
Thigpen had a strong minicamp on a tryout basis and his athleticism is a fit in coordinator Kyle Shanahan's system. Team sources said he out-performed Young, who was also trying out, though the Browns opted to sign Young as well.
Brian Hoyer had a strong camp, is ahead of schedule in his rehab and is the starter. The Browns are expected to draft a quarterback in the first round, but league sources expect it to be pick 26 and not at fourth overall.
