Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf did not return home with the team after Sunday's 27-22 win over the Baltimore Ravens. After he experienced stomach pains on the team's flight, team personnel sent him back to Baltimore, where he visited a local hospital and spent the night in a hotel. The Steelers confirmed that they sent Metcalf to the hospital out of an abundance of caution and said the standout receiver will return to Pittsburgh today.

Metcalf played a critical role in the Steelers' victory with seven catches for a game-high 148 yards. Both numbers marked season bests for the first-year Steeler, who had yet to log double digit catches in a game since joining the team.

While the hospital visit raises questions about Metcalf's health entering Week 15, it appears he avoided any significant issues. His practice participation will be one to monitor in the coming days, but signs point toward him being available for "Monday Night Football" on Dec. 15 when the Steelers host the Miami Dolphins.

Keeping Metcalf in the lineup is critical for the Steelers as they continue their quest for a playoff berth. The win over the Ravens gave them a one-game lead in the AFC North and a key tiebreaker edge over Baltimore, and with just four regular-season games remaining, they now control their own postseason destiny. The victory also pushed them back over .500, keeping alive coach Mike Tomlin's search to avoid the first losing season of his 19-year tenure.

Metcalf joined the Steelers in March by way of a trade with the Seattle Seahawks. His arrival was a boon to a Pittsburgh offense that sought direction amid somewhat of an overhaul. He settled in immediately as Aaron Rodgers' top target and through 13 games leads the team with 52 receptions, 753 yards and five touchdowns.
