The Eagles are fresh off an important win after beating Washington Football Team on Tuesday night, but they lost their head coach on Wednesday, with Nick Sirianni telling reporters he tested positive for COVID-19 after waking up feeling ill. Philadelphia has faced few pandemic-related hurdles this season in contrast to other clubs, including Washington, but it's suddenly unclear if Sirianni will be available for Week 16's rematch with the Giants.

Sirianni told the media he's already feeling better than he did Wednesday morning and plans to run all of the team's virtual meetings this week, adding that he's "hopeful" he'll clear COVID protocols ahead of Sunday's game. In the event he doesn't produce negative tests and/or prove asymptomatic before Sunday, passing game coordinator Kevin Patullo would serve as the Eagles' acting head coach, with running backs coach/assistant head coach Jemal Singleton also serving a larger role.

Offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, who has been splitting play-calling duties with Sirianni, would fully call the offense against the Giants in the event Sirianni is unavailable.

Sirianni, who's guided the Eagles to 7-7 and a wild card playoff race in his first year at the helm, is the second head coach to test positive on Wednesday, after the Jets' Robert Saleh was sidelined earlier in the day. His move to COVID protocols also comes days after the Browns and Saints were forced to play Week 15 games without their head coaches because of COVID.
