Who's Playing
Denver @ Dallas
Current Records: Denver 4-4; Dallas 6-1
What to Know
After two games on the road, the Dallas Cowboys are heading back home. They will square off against the Denver Broncos at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at AT&T Stadium. Coming off of a win even when the odds were against them, Dallas has to be feeling especially confident now that the spread is in their favor.
Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Cowboys beat the Minnesota Vikings 20-16 last week. Dallas can attribute much of their success to WR Amari Cooper, who caught eight passes for one TD and 122 yards, and WR Ced Wilson, who caught three passes for one TD and 84 yards. Dallas' win came on a five-yard TD pass from QB Cooper Rush to Cooper with only 0:55 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Denver was able to grind out a solid victory over the Washington Football Team last week, winning 17-10. No one had a standout game offensively for Denver, but RB Melvin Gordon led the way with two touchdowns. QB Teddy Bridgewater ended up with a passer rating of 154.60.
The Broncos' defense was a presence, as it got past Washington's offensive line to sack QB Taylor Heinicke five times for a total loss of 40 yards. The heavy lifting was done by OLB Malik Reed and DE Dre'Mont Jones, who each racked up two sacks.
This next matchup looks promising for the Cowboys, who are favored by a full 10 points. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a seven-game streak of ATS wins.
Dallas is now 6-1 while Denver sits at 4-4. A pair of defensive stats to keep an eye on: Dallas is stumbling into the contest with the fourth most passing yards allowed per game in the NFL, having given up 293 on average. The Broncos' defense has more to brag about, as they they rank second in the league when it comes to passing touchdowns allowed, with only nine on the season. Maybe that strength will give Denver the oomph they need to beat the odds.
