Report: Ex-NFL RB Clinton Portis owes $750,000 to IRS, Vegas casino
Clinton Portis is having some problems with the IRS.

Former NFL running back Clinton Portis made over $43 million during his nine-year career, but apparently, that's not enough to pay all of his bills.
According to documents obtained by the Independent Alligator, Portis owes almost $450,000 in back taxes to the IRS. The former Redskins running back failed to pay $401,432 in federal income taxes in 2006. Portis also failed to pay $57,187 in taxes in 2010.
Portis' total NFL income during those two years was $11.28 million, according to Spotrac.com.
The IRS isn't the only entity that Portis owes money to either, the former Broncos running back also owes almost $300,000 to the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas.
On May 1, the casino won a $287,178 judgment against Portis in a case that dated back to January 2011.
Between the casino and the IRS, Portis owes a total of $745,597.
The 33-year-old was a second-round pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2002 NFL Draft and played nine seasons before retiring in 2010 at age 29.
In an interview with TMZ, Portis said that a big reason for his debts was a failed casino project he invested in back in 2011. Thirty-five NFL players lost a total of $43.8 million in a scheme run by a financial adviser named Jeff Rubin.
"This been ongoing since 2011, 2012. We just gotta go thru the court process," Portis said. "There's nothing else I can do. My lawyers are currently dealing with this."
Although 35 players were involved in the casino deal -- players like Terrell Owens, Plaxico Burress, Clinton Portis, Roscoe Parrish, Gerard Warren, Kyle Orton, Greg Olsen, Santonio Holmes -- Portis said he's the one feeling it the most.
"At the time I was the biggest name and had the deepest pockets. Now, they're trying to hold me solely responsible for what was a bad business deal involving a lot of different people," Portis said.
It's not clear if or when Portis will pay MGM or the IRS, but he promises that he's not broke.
"My lawyers are on top of it," Portis said. "I'm still eating. Look at my Instagram. I'm not starving. I'm gaining weight."
Besides gaining weight, Portis is also flying on chartered planes to Miami Hurricanes' games.
Canes I'm on the way just be patient
