We love Steve Smith. At 35, he's still a legit playmaking threat, something the Ravens' offense lacked last season. He's also one of the NFL's most passionate players, which can manifest itself in any number of ways, almost all of them funny.

One of our favorites: Last November, Smith called then-Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib "another notch in the bedpost" before telling Talib to "Ice up, son."

Smith, who spent the first 13 years of his career in Carolina, signed with the Ravens this offseason and already fully embraces what that means.

“When I look in the defensive meeting room and I see ‘Play Like a Raven, Baltimore Ravens, We Build Bullies,’ that’s what I’m talking about,” Smith told Comcast SportsNet's Brian Mitchell (via Sports Bog). “When I think of a Baltimore Raven -- and I’m a Baltimore Raven –- what I think of is we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way, that’s the bully way, and that’s football.”

The lesson: Don't be a spork.

As for any questions about what Smith has left in the tank,'s Andy Benoit calls the wide receiver the best free-agent signing of the entire 2014 offseason. Put another way: Expect the Ravens to bounce back from their 8-8 record and do what they usually do: Contend for a division title.
