Who's Playing

Houston @ Tennessee

Current Records: Houston 1-8; Tennessee 8-2

What to Know

The Tennessee Titans won both of their matches against the Houston Texans last season (42-36 and 41-38) and are aiming for the same result Sunday. Tennessee and Houston will face off in an AFC South battle at 1 p.m. ET at Nissan Stadium. If the contest is anything like the Titans' 41-38 victory from their previous meeting in January, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

Tennessee squeaked by the New Orleans Saints by less than a field goal, winning 23-21. Kudos to the oddsmakers for accurately forecasting both the winner and the close margin. Tennessee QB Ryan Tannehill was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 213 yards on 27 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Tannehill ended up with a passer rating of 148.90.

Tennessee's defense was a presence as well, as it got past New Orleans' offensive line to sack the QB four times for a total loss of 22 yards. Leading the way was DE Jeffery Simmons and his two sacks. Simmons now has 7.5 sacks this year.

Meanwhile, the Texans came up short against the Miami Dolphins two weeks ago, falling 17-9. One thing working slightly against Houston was the run-of-the-mill game of their most targeted running back, RB Phillip Lindsay, who rushed for 28 yards on eight carries.

Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. K Ka'imi Fairbairn delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

This next game looks promising for the Titans, who are favored by a full 10.5 points. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

Tennessee's win lifted them to 8-2 while Houston's defeat dropped them down to 1-8. The Texans caused 5 turnovers against Miami, so Tennessee will need to take especially good care of the ball.
