Video shows Will Smith in possible hit-and-run with alleged killer
A video released by Fox 8 in New Orleans shows Will Smith involved in a possible hit-and-run accident before he was shot.
A video released by FOX 8 News in New Orleans on Monday evening shows former Saints player Will Smith, killed Saturday night, involved in a possible hit-and-run accident with the man who allegedly shot him.
The news station compiled footage from a group of security cameras around the New Orleans area, tracking what it claims is Smith's Mercedes SUV and Cardall Hayes' Hummer driving several blocks.
At one point, Smith's Mercedes appears to bump into the Hummer from behind, although it is not 100 percent clear this happens. The Hummer pulls over to the side of the road. The Mercedes pulls to the left and drives away.
John Fuller, Hayes' attorney, claimed previously his client was involved in a hit-and-run incident and trailed the car that hit him.
"Prior to the actions that led to Mr. Smith's death, my client was involved in a hit-and-run. Someone hit him. The person failed to pull over," Fuller said. "My client trailed behind this person in an effort to get their license plate number. My client also called 9-1-1."
So what does this mean from a legal perspective? A Fox 8 legal analyst said this video likely is not admissable. Hayes has been charged with second-degree murder.
