Vikings coach Leslie Frazier confirmed Monday the team will sign former Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman, pending a physical.

"We are excited about having him join our team," Frazier said. "We are always trying to find guys that help our team, and we believe Josh is one of those guys. Josh was very interested. He talked to a bunch of our guys before I even talked to him. He wanted to be in this environment."

Frazier was quick to announce, however, Freeman will not be ready to start Week 6 vs. Carolina. Christian Ponder (rib) or Matt Cassel will start Sunday.

"Josh is not going to be the starting quarterback this weekend," Frazier said.
