The Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears will face off in an NFC North clash at 1 p.m. ET Dec. 20 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Chicago will be strutting in after a victory while the Vikings will be stumbling in from a loss.

Minnesota was first on the board but had to settle for second at the end of their contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Minnesota took a 26-14 hit to the loss column. A silver lining for them was the play of RB Dalvin Cook, who rushed for one TD and 102 yards on 22 carries.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Chicago last week. They were the clear victors by a 36-7 margin over the Houston Texans. The team accrued 30 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win. Chicago's RB David Montgomery looked sharp as he rushed for one TD and 113 yards on 11 carries. That touchdown -- an 80-yard rush in the first quarter -- was one of the highlights of the game.

The Bears' defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed the Texans' offensive line to sack the quarterback seven times for a total loss of 64 yards. The heavy lifting was done by ILB Roquan Smith and DE Mario Edwards, who each racked up two sacks.

This next matchup is expected to be close, with the Vikings going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. Now might not be the best time to take Minnesota against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past four consecutive games.

Minnesota and Chicago now sit at an identical 6-7. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Minnesota ranks third in the league when it comes to rushing touchdowns allowed, with only eight on the season. Less enviably, the Bears are stumbling into the game with the fewest rushing touchdowns in the NFL, having accrued only six on the season. We'll see if Minnesota's defense can keep Chicago's running backs out of the end zone.
