The Carolina Panthers will face off against the Buffalo Bills on the road at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Highmark Stadium. If the 9-3 final from the last time they met is any indication, this game will be decided by the defense.

Carolina might have drawn first blood against the Atlanta Falcons last week, but it was Atlanta who got the last laugh. The Panthers fell to the Falcons 29-21. No one had a standout game offensively for Carolina, but they got scores from WR Robby Anderson, RB Chuba Hubbard, and QB Cam Newton.

Meanwhile, Buffalo fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 33-27. QB Josh Allen put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for two TDs and 308 yards on 54 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 109 yards. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Allen has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season.

Carolina is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. Now might not be the best time to take the Panthers against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past three consecutive games.

Carolina is now 5-8 while the Bills sit at 7-6. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Carolina ranks second in the NFL when it comes to yards allowed per game, with only 293 on average. As for Buffalo, they come into the matchup boasting the fewest touchdowns allowed in the league at 24.
