  • Raiders' Chase Garbers: Re-signed by Las Vegas

The Raiders signed Garbers on Tuesday. Garbers, an undrafted free agent out of California, spent most of last season on the Raiders practice squad and was elevated to the active roster late in his rookie season when Jarrett Stidham replaced Derek Carr as the starting quarterback. Garbers was surprisingly let go ahead of training camp, but he's back on the squad a week later and will compete with veteran Brian Hoyer and rookie Aidan O'Connell for a backup spot behind Jimmy Garoppolo.

  • Chase Garbers: Will be backup QB Sunday

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said Wednesday that Jarrett Stidham will replace Derek Carr as the starting quarterback Sunday against the 49ers, leaving Garbers to operate as the primary backup, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Garbers landed on Las Vegas' practice squad after he failed to make the team's initial 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, and he's been there since. The undrafted rookie out of California passed for 6,580 yards and also rushed for 1,174 yards over his four-year college career.

  • Chase Garbers: Joins Raiders' practice squad

The Raiders signed Garbers to their practice squad Wednesday. Garbers failed to land a spot on the Raiders' 53-man roster, but he made enough of an impact to earn a role on the team's practice squad. The 23-year-old will be available if Las Vegas needs additional depth at quarterback at some point in 2022.

  • Chase Garbers: Dismissed by Las Vegas

Garbers was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday. Garbers joined Las Vegas in May as an undrafted free agent out of California, though he was ultimately unable to secure a roster spot behind Derek Carr and Jarrett Stidham this preseason. The 23-year-old signal-caller will now pass through waivers before likely landing a practice-squad contract.

  • Raiders' Chase Garbers: Joins Raiders

Garbers has signed a contract with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent, Rachel Gossen of the teams' official site reports. Garbers recorded 6,580 passing yards on 62 percent completion percentage over his four-year career with California, with an average of 230.1 passing yards per game in his senior season. The signal-caller also tallied 1,174 total rushing yards over 34 starts in college. Garbers is the only rookie quarterback to join the Las Vegas roster this offseason and likely will compete with veterans Nick Mullens and Jarrett Stidham for the team's third-string spot.
