Proehl was claimed off waivers by the Chargers on Tuesday.

Proehl has yet to play in his first NFL game after stints with the Bills, 49ers and Rams. The 2018 seventh-round pick will join a healthy group of depth wide receivers in Los Angeles.

The 49ers waived Proehl on Monday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.

Proehl still is looking for an opportunity to make his NFL debut. Since joining the league in 2018, he's spent time with the Bills, 49ers and Rams.

The 49ers signed Proehl to a reserve/future contract Monday.

Proehl will resume his career in San Fransisco after spending the 2019 season with the Rams. The receiver is yet to play in his first NFL game after recording 91 receptions for 1,265 yards and five touchdowns in 38 games at North Carolina.

Proehl signed a contract with the Rams on Wednesday, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Proehl just finished his rookie season on the Rams' practice squad and will now get to stick around in Los Angeles for the start of the offseason program with the hope of carving out a depth role at wideout in advance of the 2019 campaign.

The son of long-time NFL wideout Ricky Proehl never showed the coaching staff much to give him a chance, though the Bills' practice squad remains an option. Carolina could also be an intriguing option given that the younger Proehl played college ball for the Tar Heels and his pop spent much of his NFL career with the Panthers.
