The Browns signed Markway to a two-year deal Monday, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
After spending time with the Browns' practice squad throughout the 2020 season, Markway will stay in Cleveland and provide depth at tight end behind Harrison Bryant, David Njoku, Stephen Carlson, and Austin Hooper. The South Carolina product will aim to make his NFL debut in the upcoming year.
The Browns elevated Markway to their active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
With David Njoku (hamstring) and Stephen Carlson (groin) questionable, Markway has been added to help provide depth at tight end behind Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant. His addition does not bode well for the chances of the former two with their status in question, but neither has officially been ruled out yet. Markway re-signed with the Browns' practice squad Nov. 9.
The Browns signed Markway to the practice squad Monday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Markway was cut from the practice squad Oct. 13, but he's back with the team. An undrafted rookie out of South Carolina, Markway would need an injury to one of the four tight ends on the active roster to have a chance at a promotion.
The Browns cut Markway from the practice squad Tuesday.
Markway signed with the practice squad about three weeks ago, but he'll be replaced by Jordan Franks. An undrafted free agent, Markway caught 31 passes for 349 yards and two scores in his final collegiate season at South Carolina, and he likely will look to sign with another practice squad.
Markway signed with the Browns' practice squad Monday.
Markway went undrafted in April and spent time with the Giants and Steelers but failed to make a final roster. He posted a 31-349-2 line in his final season at South Carolina, so he'll likely just be a scout-team asset for the Browns.
The Steelers signed Markway on Saturday, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.
Markway previously spent time with the Giants this offseason. The undrafted rookie out of South Carolina will compete for a depth role behind top tight ends Eric Ebron and Vance McDonald.
The Giants waived Markway on Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
The undrafted rookie out of South Carolina was let go to free up roster space for the Giants to bring in wideout Cody White and offensive lineman Jackson Dennis. Markway will seek a new opportunity, but his ceiling is as a depth option.
