Milan Lucic's debut for the Los Angeles Kings was fairly quiet until he ended up getting himself ejected by earning a match penalty late in the third period of their 5-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks for chasing down Logan Couture and attempting to shove him into the bench. 

It all started when Couture exited the penalty box and caught Lucic with a hit (which you can watch here) that he was not expecting, sending the Kings forward flying through the air. 

Lucic responded in a predictable manner for Milan Lucic: He did this.

By earning a match penalty that means that Lucic is automatically suspended for the Kings' next game pending a review by the league.

Match penalties are issued to "any player who deliberately attempts to injure or who deliberately injures an opponent in any manner."

Kings coach Darryl Sutter said the play was only a "borderline penalty."

Along with this play, the NHL will have to take a look at another incident from this game involving Couture and a physical Kings forward. Earlier in the night Couture was on the receiving end of a questionable hit from Kings captain Dustin Brown that looked like it could have been a head-butt. Brown was not penalized for that play.

Lucic finished the night with one shot on goal, 10 penalty minutes and was a minus-two.
