VIDEO: Craig Anderson taken off ice on stretcher after collision in net

Senators goaltender Craig Anderson was on the receiving end of a thigh to the head in a collision in the crease on Sunday, leaving the ice on a stretcher.

Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson was injured in overtime on Sunday in a game against the Stars, being taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Anderson was holding firm in his net as Stars rookie Valeri Nichushkin danced his way through the zone going hard to the net. He came into the crease and appeared to hit Anderson in the head with his thigh, leaving the Senators goaltender sprawled on the ice.

Anderson was able to wave to the crowd as he was being taken off the ice, always a great sign. Keep your fingers crossed that the use of the stretcher was nothing but extreme caution and that Anderson will be fine. The collision didn't look great for Anderson on his head and neck, though.

Update: From the sounds of things, Anderson was walking around after he was taken off the ice.

Equally positive was the update from the Senators after the game.

Update on Craig Anderson: He has a stiff neck and will receive further evaluation tomorrow. It is unlikely he will play Tuesday.

That's excellent news, especially for the Senators who rely so much on their goaltenders as they give up more shots per game than any team in the league. Anderson entered Sunday's game with a .911 save percentage and a 4-4-1 record.
