The silver lining is that Luypen did skate on his own before the Blackhawks' practice began. He had 18 goals and 39 points in 38 WHL contests with Tri-City in 2022-23.

Luypen (shoulder) was removed from injured reserve and sent to WHL Tri-City on Sunday, per CapFriendly.
Luypen underwent offseason surgery and has been on injured reserve since. He has 29 goals and 64 points in 66 WHL games last season.

Luypen recently underwent shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and will be sidelined for 14-18 weeks, the team announced Tuesday.
Luypen was unlikely to crack the 23-man Opening Night roster, but this latest news all but guarantees he will start the season in the minors once cleared to play. With WHL Edmonton last season, the 2021 seventh-round pick racked up 29 goals and 35 helpers, adding another nine points in 19 postseason contests.
