  • Sharks' Luca Cagnoni: Sent back down

Cagnoni was sent to AHL San Jose on Friday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports. Cagnoni spent the final few days of the regular season with the Sharks, and he recorded no points, five hits, three blocked shots and two PIM while averaging 18:02 of ice time over three appearances with the NHL club. He'll head back to the Barracuda ahead of their two-game series to close out their regular season, and he should also be available for the AHL squad during the Calder Cup Playoffs.

  • Sharks' Luca Cagnoni: Called up from Barracuda

Cagnoni has been recalled by the Sharks from AHL San Jose, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Sunday. The corresponding move is the placement of Shakir Mukhamadullin (upper body) on injured reserve. The Sharks' back end has been decimated with the injury bug in the early going of the season, so it's a big opportunity for the 20-year-old Cagnoni to kick the door down and show he belongs in the NHL. He had two assists in six NHL games last season and absolutely lit up the AHL with 52 points in 64 games.

  • Sharks' Luca Cagnoni: Pockets power-play assist

Cagnoni notched a power-play assist and four PIM in Monday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Canucks. Cagnoni is getting a second stint at the NHL level late in the season as the Sharks deal with numerous injuries on defense. His helper Monday was his first power-play point in six appearances for the Sharks. He's added seven shots on net, nine blocked shots, eight PIM and a minus-4 rating. Cagnoni will likely be in competition for an NHL job in training camp in the fall.
