Gridin scored a goal on five shots and added an assist in AHL Calgary's 3-2 win over San Diego on Saturday.
Gridin has three goals and three assists during his five-game point streak. He started the season in the NHL and posted a goal and nine shots over four games. Since returning to the AHL, he has seven goals and 17 points over 16 appearances. The 19-year-old Russian has a good chance of seeing more NHL minutes before the end of the campaign, though the Flames have turned to call-ups Sam Morton and Dryden Hunt as well as waiver claim John Beecher to fill out the forward depth recently.

Flames' Matvei Gridin: Gets lucky bounce for first goal
Rotowire
Gridin scored a goal on five shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Oilers.
Gridin's first career goal wasn't a beauty -- his centering pass banked in off an Oiler. Still, it's a good sign he was in a position to get a bounce to go his way in his NHL debut. The 19-year-old forward will likely get at least a nine-game trial with the big club, and he could continue to feature in a middle-six role as the team tries to evaluate if he's ready to stick around for the long haul. He produced 36 goals and 79 points with QMJHL Shawinigan during the 2024-25 regular season and would likely return to the junior ranks if the Flames don't keep him on their roster all year.

Flames' Matvei Gridin: Makes NHL roster
Rotowire
Gridin told reporters Monday that he made the Flames' roster to open the season, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Gridin was selected by the Flames with the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and looks set to make his NHL debut versus the Oilers on Wednesday. With the 19-year-old winger still eligible to play in juniors, he figures to have a nine-game trial run with Calgary to determine whether he remains on the NHL roster the whole year or if he rejoins QMJHL Shawinigan for the rest of the 2025-26 campaign.
