Hanifin (head) is back to 100 percent health, according to his TSN interview with Jermain Franklin. He recorded 22 points in 70 games prior to the league going on hiatus in mid-March and did not miss a game with the issue.
Hanifin's fifth season in the NHL has produced much of the same, as he's landed between 22-33 points in 79-81 games in each campaign. The 2015 fifth-overall pick is durable and good for a point every three games or so, which is unspectacular from a fantasy standpoint. Hanifin is also good for 80-plus hits over the last few years and is approaching triple-digit blocked shots (89 in 2019-20), so he's probably best suited to deeper leagues at this point.
According to coach Geoff Ward, Hanifin is currently going through the NHL's concussion protocol, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Hanifin has yet to be ruled out of Thursday's matchup with the Islanders, but at this point he should be considered questionable at best for that contest. Check back for confirmation on his status prior to puck drop.
Hanifin left Monday's contest against Vegas with an upper-body injury and will not return.
Hanifin was on the ice for just two minutes before suffering the upper-body injury early in the first period. An update on his status should be available before Thursday's game against the Islanders.

Hanifin has five assists over the last four games, a strong uptick in his point production. He's up to 22 points, 126 shots, 85 blocked shots and 79 hits in 64 contests this year. It's unlikely the Boston native will sustain this surge for the rest of the campaign, making a return to the 30-point threshold improbable.
Hanifin had two assists and one shot on goal in a 4-2 win over Detroit on Sunday.
Hanifin set up Johnny Gaudreau to open the scoring in the first period, and then did the same of Andrew Mangiapane late in the second. The latter goal put the Flames up 3-2 and served as the game-winner. Hanifin is on a three-game point streak (four assists) but has gone 13 games without a goal.

Hanifin has helpers in consecutive games and five assists in his last seven. The 23-year-old defenseman is up to 19 points, 122 shots, 85 blocked shots and 77 hits through 62 games this year. He's serving in a top-pairing role with the Flames missing Mark Giordano (hamstring) and Travis Hamonic (upper body) -- that should give Hanifin a little added value until the defense corps returns to full health.
Hanifin produced an assist and two shots on goal in Monday's 6-4 win over the Ducks.
Hanifin assisted Andrew Mangiapane's second-period tally. The 23-year-old blueliner was also responsible for a turnover leading to a Ducks goal, so it wasn't the best of all-around efforts. Hanifin is up to 18 points, 119 shots, 84 blocked shots, 77 hits and a minus-14 rating through 61 games.
Hanifin registered two assists -- one on the power play -- and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 6-2 win over the Sharks.
Hanifin skated a team-high 24:54 in the contest to help offset the losses of Mark Giordano (hamstring) and Travis Hamonic (undisclosed). He's at 17 points, 110 shots and 82 blocked shots through 57 appearances.
Hanifin picked up an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Canucks.
Hanifin had the lone helper on Tobias Rieder's empty-net goal in the third period. The assist snapped a five-game point drought for Hanifin, who now has 15 points in 56 contests. He's added 108 shots, 82 blocked shots and 74 hits this season, but the inconsistent offense has rendered him a non-factor in standard fantasy formats.

The 23-year-old has recorded seven shots on goal, five hits and five blocked shots in that span. Hanifin has 14 points, 106 shots, 81 blocks and 73 hits through 55 contests. Hanifin has added 62 hits, 65 blocked shots and 91 shots on goal, but it's looking highly likely he comes in under 30 points for the first time since 2016-17.
Hanifin notched an assist, four shots on goal, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Rangers.
Hanifin found Sean Monahan for a second-period tally which would stand as the game-winner. It was the defenseman's 100th career assist, coming in his 362nd appearance.
