  • Flames' Jon Gillies: Sent down a level

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/18) Gillies was sent back to AHL Stockton on Sunday.

Gillies took part in 11 games for Calgary this season, going 3-5-1 with a 2.88 GAA and .896 save percentage. The Flames' season is all wrapped up, so the 24-year-old netminder will look to get some extra work in before AHL Stockton's season comes to a close.

Flames' Jon Gillies: Ends six-game losing streak

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/7/18) Gillies allowed one goal on 27 shots in a 7-1 victory over the Golden Knights on Saturday.

The rookie had one of the most surprising performances of the day, ending a six-game losing streak while shutting down one of the league's top offenses. Gillies hadn't allowed just one goal in a game since Feb. 24 when he made 28 saves during a victory over the Avalanche. Finishing 2017-18 on a positive note is great, but Gillies still ended his rookie season only 3-5-1 with an .893 save percentage.

Flames' Jon Gillies: Tending twine as season nears end point

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/7/18) Gillies will start in goal at home against the Golden Knights on Saturday for the regular-season finale, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

The Flames will hand the reigns to the rookie to cap off the regular season. Calgary has no shot at the postseason, but Gillies will be stacked against an expansion club that shocked the masses by clinching the Pacific Division. The 24-year-old is 2-5-1 with a 3.08 GAA and .889 save percentage, so be sure to check out the entire offering of goaltenders before settling on Gillies. After all, there are 15 games on the schedule.

Flames' Jon Gillies: Lets in two in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/6/18) Gillies made 24 saves on 26 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Jets on Thursday.

That makes six losses in a row for Gillies, but you can't really blame him for this one. However, the 24-year-old certainly has shouldered a healthy portion of the blame in some of his other starts, as he has a 3.08 GAA and .889 save percentage. Mike Smith is old for a goalie, and the Flames need to think about their future in net. At the moment, though, the American netminder has a lot to prove.

Flames' Jon Gillies: Receives Thursday's start

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/5/18) Gillies will guard the net Thursday against the Jets in Winnipeg, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Gillies will make his second straight appearance in the crease for the Flames despite allowing four goals to the Coyotes on 21 shots during Tuesday's affair. It's been a rough go for him in recent showings,as he's riding a five-game losing streak and has surrendered four or more goals in each of his last three starts. He will attempt to buck that trend Thursday, but it will be a difficult task against a Jets club averaging a league-best 3.85 goals per game at home this season.
