Blues' Steve Santini: Handed one-year deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini put pen to paper on a one-year, two-way contract with St. Louis on Saturday.

Santini has 116 games of NHL experience under his belt with New Jersey and Nashville in which he recorded five goals, 16 helpers and 279 hits while averaging 17:27 of ice time. The defenseman should be in the mix for the 23-man roster during training camp but will almost certainly find himself in the minors for Opening Night given the organization's depth on the blue line.

Steve Santini: Bought out by Preds
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini was placed on waivers by Nashville on Wednesday to buy out his contract, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.

Santini won't cost the team much against the cap, but they'll avoid having to bury his deal in the minors again like last season. Despite having 116 NHL games under his belt, the 25-year-old blueliner saw action in just two contests for Nashville last year, instead playing the bulk of his games in the minors with AHL Milwaukee (54). If he's willing to accept a two-way deal, Santini should still garner some interest from NHL clubs, or he could try his hand in Europe.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nashville reassigned Santini to AHL Milwaukee on Friday.

Santini drew into two games during his brief stay with the big club, going scoreless while averaging just 9:33 of ice time per contest. The 24-year-old blueliner will spend the majority of the campaign in the minors, so he can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Predators' Steve Santini: Called up from minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini was promoted from AHL Milwaukee on Monday.

In 17 minor-league appearances for the Admirals, Santini notched five helpers, 12 PIM and a plus-11 rating. The 24-year-old figures to bolster the blue line depth heading into Tuesday's matchup with Winnipeg, but may not be able to earn a spot in the lineup over Dan Hamhuis or Matt Irwin. If he does play, Santini figures to log around the 15-minute mark, limiting his chances of getting on the scoresheet.

Predators' Steve Santini: Waived for reassignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini was designated for waivers by the Predators on Monday, Adam Vingan of The Athletic reports.

Santini -- who was acquired from the Devils as part of the P.K. Subban deal -- couldn't unseat Matt Irwin or Yannick Weber for a spot on the 23-man roster. The 24-year-old Santini will report to AH Binghamton if he clears waivers, but figures to be atop the list of potential call-ups should an injury strike the blue line.

Predators' Steve Santini: Becomes Predator in big trade
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini has been traded to Nashville from New Jersey, along with Jeremy Davies and two second-round draft picks, in exchange for P.K. Subban, reports TSN.ca.

It's a huge deal, but a bit of a shocker. Santini is 24, but has been a fringe NHL defender to date. He had four points (one goal, three assists) in 39 games in 2018-19 and has 21 points in 114 games in his career. But there must be something to the guy's game for the defensive gurus in Nashville to want him. Santini may not be a fantasy play, but he could develop into the kind of on-ice presence that is the perfect fit in the NHL.

Devils' Steve Santini: Finishes season with four points
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini went scoreless in Saturday's season finale against Florida, finishing the season with a goal and three assists in 39 games.

Santini took a step back after posting 10 points in 36 games last season. The Bronxville, NY native doesn't seem to be much more than a fringe NHLer, though he still has some time to develop at 24 years of age.

Devils' Steve Santini: Total non-factor
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini accrued no meaningful statistics but for one hit over 16:38 of ice time in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Capitals.

Santini was one of two Devils blueliners to see at least one minute of action on both the power play (1:16) and penalty kill (1:00) in this one, but don't get too excited about the ice time with the extra man. New Jersey squandered many opportunities on the power play and worked Santini in only because better options were tired -- Damon Severson saw a whopping 7:55 of power-play time to lead the team. Santini is still searching for his first career power-play point and has just one goal and two assists in 25 appearances this season.

Devils' Steve Santini: Sends out assist
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini recorded a helper, six hits and four blocked shots in Monday's win over the Penguins.

This was a solid bounce-back game for Santini, who posted zero points, 12 hits and four blocked shots over the previous seven outings. The 23-year-old blueliner is still seeking his first goal of the season, and he'll be hard-pressed to light the lamp with just 18 shots in 15 games. Santini can be safely kept out of fantasy formats unless he elevates from the bottom pairing.

Devils' Steve Santini: Trending up but very slowly
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini chipped in one shot and one block in a season-high 16:57 of ice time in Thursday's 5-2 win over Boston.

As you can gather from the box score, Santini wasn't a major factor in this upset win, and his ice time total was the lowest among New Jersey's six blueliners. He's dressed in each of the Devils' past four games, but Santini's still yet to record a point through five appearances this season.

Devils' Steve Santini: Lifted from IR
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini (jaw) was activated from injured reserve ahead of Saturday's home game against the Jets.

The Devils sent forward prospect Michael McLeod back to AHL Binghamton in a corresponding move. Santini broke his jaw when a puck hit him in the face during an Oct. 20 contest, but he's since returned to practice and went out on a conditioning assignment preceding his activation from injured reserve. The blueliner has just four goals and 13 assists over 76 career contests at the top level.

Devils' Steve Santini: Back with big club
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini (jaw) will rejoin the Devils but is still on injured reserve.

Santini was sent down to AHL Binghamton on a conditioning assignment while he recovers from a broken jaw. The 23-year-old New York native has played just one game this season, but it appears he's somewhat close to returning.

Devils' Steve Santini: Loaned out on conditioning assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini (jaw) will join AHL Binghamton on a long-term conditioning loan, the team announced Tuesday.

Santini suffered a broken jaw in his first game of the 2018-19 campaign and his missed the Devils' last 13 contests. The defenseman will spend some time in the minors in order to get back up to game speed, though he could find himself on the waiver wire once fully fit given the club's depth on the blue line.

Devils' Steve Santini: Back practicing with team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini (jaw) rejoined his teammates at practice Thursday, skating with a full face shield, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Santini may or may not be ready for game action, but it's encouraging that he was able to rejoin his teammates in Toronto as they prepare for the second leg of a three-game swing through Canada. He broke his jaw in his season debut against the Flyers back on Oct. 20.

Devils' Steve Santini: Placed on injured reserve
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini was designated for injured reserve after suffering a broken jaw against the Flyers on Sunday.

While the team didn't provide an immediate timetable, Santini figures to be sidelined for a couple of weeks as he recovers from his injury, which occured when the blueliner was struck in the face by a puck. In order to bolster the team's depth on the blue line, Egor Yakovlev was recalled from AHL Binghamton, along with forward Kevin Rooney.

Devils' Steve Santini: Unable to return to game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini (face) was unable to return to Saturday's game against the Flyers. He finished with 2:33 of ice time after getting struck in the face by the puck.

This was an unfortunate incident for a guy who finally made his season debut. However, Santini will certainly benefit from the Devils having a four-day break in the schedule before the next game. The defenseman should be considered day-to-day for now.

Devils' Steve Santini: Questionable to return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini took a puck to the face during the first period of Saturday's game against the Flyers and is questionable to return, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

This was a rude way for Santini to get welcomed into the 2018-19 season. He was inserted into the lineup in place of Ben Lovejoy (lower body), who's been dealing with an injury of his own. At the time of this writing, Santini's been limited to 2:33 of ice time with six minutes remaining in the second period and the score knotted up, 1-1.

Devils' Steve Santini: Active for season debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini will make his season debut versus the Flyers on Saturday afternoon, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Santini will be paired with 2017 Hobey Baker Award winner Will Butcher in the upcoming contest. The Devils signed the former to a three-year, entry-level deal in mid-August, hoping he can build upon his output of 10 points (two goals, eight assists) over 36 games from the 2017-18 campaign.

Devils' Steve Santini: Secures new deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini agreed to terms on a three-year, $4.25 million contract with New Jersey on Tuesday.

The most significant aspect of Santini's deal is that it is one-way in nature, which means he can't be easily sent down to the minors. Having played less than 40 games in each of the previous two seasons, the blueliner is poised to set a career high for games played, which could propel him to new bests in goals or assists.

Devils' Steve Santini: Qualifying offer in hand
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Santini has received a qualifying offer from the Devils.

Santini has served as a part-time NHL player in each of the past two campaigns, appearing in 38 games for the Devils in 2016-17 and 36 in 2017-18. The 23-year-old New York native will hope to secure a more consistent role with the big club next season.
