Jannik Hansen: Hanging up skates
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen announced that he will retire from hockey Friday, Hockeysverige.se reports.

Hansen capped off his hockey career by winning the Gagarin Cup with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. The Dane last played in the NHL in the 2017-18 season, when he logged 14 points over 46 games with the Sharks. After that campaign, Hansen tested the waters of the KHL and found a home with CSKA Moscow, signing a one-year deal that would result in a championship. The 33-year-old spent most of his NHL career in Vancouver, and ends with 109 goals and 147 assists over 626 games.

Jannik Hansen: Packing for Russia
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen agreed to terms on a one-year deal with CSKA Moscow on Wednesday, AllHockey.ru reports.

Hansen spent much of the 2017-18 campaign on the bench for the Sharks, including the team's postseason run. When he was on the ice (46 games), the winger averaged a mere 12:02 of ice time, in which he tallied a pair of goals and 12 helpers. With no NHL deal coming, the 31-year-old will test the waters of the KHL for the first time. If this marks the end of the Dane's North American tenure, he will end his 12-year run having logged 626 games, 109 goals and 147 assists.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Spends playoffs in press box
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen was absent from the Sharks' lineup for the entire postseason.

Considering Hansen consistently served as a healthy scratch throughout the year, it shouldn't come as a shock coach Peter Deboer opted not to use him. Even when the winger did dress, he was limited to a mere 12:02 of ice time. The 32-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent July 1 and may try to find a team that will give him a more significant role.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Riding pine
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen was a healthy scratch Sunday during a 4-1 defeat to Winnipeg.

Hansen has now been scratched in four of San Jose's last five, but did tally an assist in his only action Friday against Ottawa. The 31-year-old has only mustered four assists in 26 games this season averaging 12:44 of ice time per contest, and currently isn't on pace to match his 20 point total he put up in 2016-17. With San Jose having plenty of depth at both wings, it appears it'll be hard for Hansen to shake the press box consistently save for injuries .

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Held off scoresheet
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen was held pointless in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay.

After struggling to find consistent ice time earlier this season, Hansen's now skated in six of San Jose's last seven games, averaging 13:48 of ice time. However, the 31-year-old has only recorded one point in 2017-18, so he could potentially be in danger of missing the 20-point plateau for the first time since 2009-10.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Finally records point
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen pitched in an assist Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the Sharks lost to the Islanders 5-3 on the road.

The Dane is off to an incredibly slow start, as this was his first point in seven games. Hansen is in the final stage of a four-year, $10 million contract originally procured by the Canucks, and we can certainly see him walking as an unrestricted free agent if he continues to stumble with the Sharks.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Records second straight multi-point outing
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen scored a goal and chipped in a helper in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Edmonton.

Hansen's back-to-back games with a goal and an assist have somewhat been for naught, as the Sharks have failed to turn his efforts into a victory. Nonetheless, owners will surely appreciate the former Canuck's recent production after he went his first eight games in San Jose with just a single assist.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Picks up pair of points
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen scored a goal and chipped in a helper in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers.

Hansen finally found twine in his ninth game as a Shark after being acquired from Vancouver. His 16 points aren't exactly anything to write home about, but the fact he's done that in 37 contests would amount to a 35-point pace over a full season, which would come close to his career-high effort of 39 set back in 2011-12. That said, it'll be interesting to see what he can do in a full season with San Jose next year.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Appears ready to rock Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen (undisclosed) is expected to play Friday night in Dallas, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Barring a setback in warmups, it looks like the Danish winger will slot back into the lineup against the Stars. He's produced only one point (an assist) in six games since arriving from Vancouver at the trade deadline, so fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting much from Hansen either way.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Won't suit up Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen (undisclosed) won't play Tuesday night's game in Minnesota, but there's still a chance that he could return during the Sharks' road trip, Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News reports.

This road trip consists of just two more games -- a Friday matchup in Dallas immediately followed by Saturday's game in Nashville. It's not at all guaranteed that Hansen will be ready to go for either of those contests, but most fantasy owners aren't likely to notice, considering that the winger has managed just one point since coming over from Vancouver at the trade deadline.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Doubtful for Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen (undisclosed) is doubtful to play in Monday's game in Dallas, Curtis Pashelka of the Bay Area News Group reports.

The winger left Saturday's game in the third period, and still seems to be hampered by an unknown ailment. With 13 points in 28 games, he hasn't been a high-volume scorer, and with no points in his last five games, he's not in the midst of any sort of a streak, so owners might want to stay away even if he plays.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Doesn't return following injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen exited Saturday's game against the Ducks midway through the third period and did not return, The Mercury News reports.

Coach Peter DeBoer didn't have an update for the veteran forward following the contest, but more news on his status will likely arrive ahead of Monday's game against the Stars. Hansen logged 12:44 of ice time before exiting, posting just two hits and a minus-2 rating on the night.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Will make Sharks debut Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen will make his Sharks debut Thursday against the Capitals, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

The veteran winger hasn't done much this season, notching 13 points in 28 games with the Canucks, but he'll be skating with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski on San Jose's first line in Thursday's contest, making him an intriguing play in daily contests and a player to keep an eye on in season-long leagues.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Will finally join Sharks on Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen is expected to join the Sharks for practice Wednesday, finally ending his visa issue, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

It has been more than a week since the Sharks acquired the Danish forward from the Canucks, but his introduction to his new team has been delayed as he sorted out immigration. After Wednesday's practice, we'll get a much better idea of where Hansen will slot into the San Jose lineup. There has been speculation that he might join the top line with Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton, which would obviously be great news for his fantasy owners.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Unable to go Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen will not play Sunday's game in Minnesota and is doubtful for Monday's game in Winnipeg due to his ongoing visa issues, Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News reports.

The Sharks and fantasy owners alike are left wondering how Hansen will fit in with his new team, and at this point it's looking like they'll both have to wait until the team returns to San Jose on Thursday for a matchup with the Capitals. The 30-year-old racked up a goal and three assists in his final eight games with the Canucks.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Status still muddy due to visa problems
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen is still caught in a waiting game as it relates to obtaining his visa, the San Jose Mercury News reports. "It's really day-to-day," Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said about Hansen's conundrum. "I could get a call in an hour and say he's got clearance or it could be two days. I don't know."

The Sharks had hopes that Hansen would be able to settle his visa issue ahead of Thursday's game against his former Canucks team, but that didn't come to fruition, and it's anyone's guess if he'll be able to suit up against the Wild in Minnesota on Sunday. He's a dual threat in the sense that he's proven capable of scoring and setting up goals at a steady rate, though the Dane had to overcome a significant knee injury in the earlier weeks of winter. Keep him reserved in all fantasy leagues until the mess is sorted out.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Held up by visa issues
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen will not be able to play Thursday's game against the Canucks due to ongoing problems with his visa, Brodie Brazil of CSN Bay Area reports.

Visa problems are often prevalent with foreign players who have never been on a United States-based team; such is the case with Hansen here. The hope is that he'll be able to get it all sorted out ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Wild, but there's really no knowing for sure when it comes to the workings of the government.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Might not be in San Jose by Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen may not be in San Jose for Thursday's game against his former team, the Canucks, Dan Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.

It is apparently difficult for a Danish citizen to get a United States visa in rather short order. We'll keep you apprised of the situation, but Hansen might need to wait until Sunday's game in Minnesota -- or perhaps Monday's game in Winnipeg -- before he debuts with his new team.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Traded to San Jose
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Sharks acquired Hansen from the Canucks on Tuesday in exchange for Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional fourth-round pick, Bob McKenzie of TSN.ca reports.

Hansen is having a down year with just six goals and 13 points through 28 games, so perhaps this move to a playoff contender will spark him. He has shown signs of life lately, posting a goal with four points in 10 games since returning from a knee injury that cost him six weeks. Hansen will likely battle Mikkel Boedker for a top-six role and power-play duties.

Canucks' Jannik Hansen: Scratched as precaution
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hansen was scratched for Tuesday's game against the Red Wings as a precaution, Farhan Lalji of TSN.ca reports.

Hansen's name has been bandied about in rumors leading up to Wednesday's NHL trade deadline. The Canucks are playing it safe and making sure one of their potential trade chips doesn't go down with an injury.
