Euro 2016 arrives this week as 24 teams battle it out for Europe's top international trophy. It all starts with host France playing Romania at 3 p.m. ET on Friday and ends July 10 with the final at the Stade de France.

Below you will see the groups, match schedule, TV listings and everything else needed as the road to the final soon begins.

Format

24 teams are divided into six groups of four. The top two teams from each group based on points advance to the quarterfinals, while the four best third-place teams will also advance.

Group breakdown: France won the group thanks to two victories with last-minute goals. Switzerland didn't lose a match and got through with five points. But will anyone else go through? Albania's three points puts them in contention for a spot in the round of 16, but they will have to wait out other results first.

Group breakdown: Wales beat Russia 3-0 in their last match to jump into first place and win the group, while England's second draw saw the Three Liones fall to second place. Slovakia could still go through as a third place team with four points and a decent goal differential.
