Roach was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Saturday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Roach was removed from the 40-man roster to open a spot for Pat Venditte. He could garner a look on the waiver wire, but figures to remain with Triple-A Tacoma if he clears waivers.
