Blanton goes seven-plus again for win: Joe Blanton pitched into the eighth inning, Jayson Werth drove in two runs on the same day he was named to his first All-Star team and the Phillies beat the Pirates 3-2 on Friday night. Blanton (6-4) allowed one run and four hits over 7 1/3 innings in his second consecutive effective outing. The right-hander pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings in Philadelphia's 2-0 victory over the Mets on Sunday. Blanton struck out six and walked one in his outing on Friday.
