Sowers taken for ride in debut: Indians SP Jeremy Sowers was taken deep by Jonny Gomes in his spring debut Thursday against the Reds. The two-run blast was one of three hits Sowers allowed in two innings of work. A strained shoulder has him behind schedule, but Cleveland manager Manny Acta was encouraged by Sowers' performance. "He was able to compete and throw the ball with some pop considering what he has gone through the last couple months," Acta said. "He made two mistakes, a single and a homer, but other than that, it's a step in the right direction for him."

Fantasy Analysis
Sowers was considered a long shot to win a spot in the Indians' starting bullpen even before a shoulder strain delayed his spring. Posting an ERA well over 5.00 in 44 starts over the past two seasons will leave a bad impression. Thursday's debut did nothing to make you think he's any different of a pitcher. He can be ignored in all Fantasy formats at this time.
