Arians happy with two surprise running backs
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

Andre Ellington is pretty much locked into the Cardinals' starting running back job heading into training camp, but he won't hog all of the carries. Cards coach Bruce Arians told ESPN that backups Jonathan Dwyer and Robert Hughes have each been a pleasant surprise so far this offseason

"(Dwyer) is in better shape and he's running routes and catching the ball better than I remember," Arians said. "I know he'll pound you and can really run the football. I know he can pass block. But he caught the ball extremely well. He made some catches in the red zone for us. That was a surprise."

As for Hughes, the former Colts backup rusher, Arians called him "outstanding," citing his toughness, mentality and skill set as strengths. Not only is he a load on his feet but he can also run good routes and catch passes.

Both have a chance to make the Cardinals final roster.

Cardinals add Jonathan Dwyer for one year
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

The Cardinals beefed up their running back depth in free agency, adding former Steelers back Jonathan Dwyer on a one-year deal Wednesday, according to AZCardinals.com. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Dwyer disappointed despite appearing in a career-high 15 games for the Steelers in 2013. His production fell off across the board, as he finished with 197 yards on 49 carries, without a touchdown.

Steelers facing decisions on three running backs
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

The Steelers will try to re-sign free agent running backs Jonathan Dwyer and LaRod Stephens-Howling but not Felix Jones, reports ESPN.com. Dwyer would be an ideal backup to Le'Veon Bell but might leave for a chance to play more, the report said.

Stephens-Howling must prove he's healthy following ACL surgery. If he's the only one who returns, the Steelers would seek to bolster the position through free agency or the draft, the report said.

Several Steelers make small contributions to victory
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Two greatly used Steelers wideouts caught just three passes between them Sunday at Green Bay, but one was a biggie.

That one was a 1-yard scoring snag in the first quarter by Emmanuel Sanders, who finished with two receptions for 7 yards. Jerricho Cotchery caught one pass for 9 yards in the win.

Also pitching in were running backs Jonathan Dwyer, who both ran and received for 7 yards, and fullback Will Johnson, who caught one pass for 6 yards. Fellow back Felix Jones had one rushing attempt for 6 yards.

Steelers get offensive contributions
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Several Steelers played a minor offensive role in the win over the Bengals. Running back Jonathan Dwyer ran six times for 26 yards, while running back Felix Jones carried five times for 22 yards.

Receiver Jerricho Cotchery drew three targets, including one in the end zone, but was limited to a 2-yard reception.
