After making attempts to add C.J. Anderson and Chris Johnson to their backfield, the Dolphins will now throw Pead into the depth mix behind Jay Ajayi, but his addition is not likely to be the team's last move to fortify the running back position. The 26-year-old -- who was a 2012 second-round pick by the Rams -- was limited to two carries for three yards in two games last season, and he thus has much to prove before approaching fantasy consideration.
The Steelers have released Isaiah Pead , the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
To replace Pead as a depth RB option, the Steelers have promoted Fitzgerald Toussaint from their practice squad to the team's active roster.
Isaiah Pead is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Pead, who was just signed this week for depth, had a small chance to play behind DeAngelo Williams in this game, but he is not on the active roster.
Isaiah Pead signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.
Pead's signing unfortunately coincides with star Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell (knee) being placed on season-ending injured reserve. With Bell out, veteran DeAngelo Williams is expected to shoulder most of Pittsburgh's workload, but Pead could compete with fellow backups Dre Archer and Jordan Todman for touches out of the backfield.
Isaiah Pead will visit with the Steelers on Monday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
With Le'Veon Bell (knee) looking at an extended absence, Pead may join the Steelers to provide depth behind DeAngelo Williams. The former second-round draft pick (2012) was unimpressive during his time with the Rams, and he probably won't have a major role with the Steelers if he signs.
