| 49ers release Edwards: San Francisco released seldom-used WR Braylon Edwards on Tuesday after the veteran struggled to recover from knee surgery at the beginning of the season. "I was released [Tuesday] by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense," Edwards wrote in a statement on his website. Edwards, 28, recorded 15 receptions for 181 yards and no touchdowns this year. (Updated 12/27/2011) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
| Edwards was a non-factor on offense for most of the season and failed to record more than one reception in each of his past four outings. He signed with San Francisco in the offseason after two years with the Jets, but never developed into the big-play threat the team had anticipated and averaged just 12.1 yards per catch, a career low. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on where Edwards lands (if he does sign with a team), however, he is not a recommended Fantasy option for the remainder of the season. (Updated 12/27/2011). |
