Rams sign FB Karney, FS Butler: The St. Louis Rams solidified their secondary and backfield with a pair of free agent signings Wednesday, giving safety James Butler a four-year contract and adding veteran fullback Mike Karney. The 26-year-old Butler will be reunited with new Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo, his defensive coordinator the last two seasons with the New York Giants. The 5-foot-11, 255-pound Karney has started 46 games in five seasons with the Saints. He'll be expected to provide reliable lead blocking for Steven Jackson.
