CLEVELAND (AP) Kenny Carpenter tossed in 23 points and hit a pair of free throws with three seconds left to help Cleveland State hold off IUPUI 70-67 on Thursday night.

Carpenter's layup gave the Vikings (5-15, 2-5 Horizon League) a 65-59 lead with four minutes left in the game. But Nick Rogers hit two free throws, Ron Patterson scored on a dunk and Jaylen Minnett had a four-point play with 44 seconds remaining to give the Jaguars (7-12, 4-4) a 67-66 lead. Tyree Appleby whiffed on a layup, but Jamarcus Hairston grabbed the rebound and scored to put Cleveland State up 68-67 with 22 seconds left. Stefan Kenic had a steal on the Jaguars' next possession and Evan Hall was forced to foul Carpenter. Patterson missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for IUPUI.

Kenic finished with 14 points, while Evan Clayborne scored 10 with seven rebounds for the Vikings.

Aaron Brennan topped the Jaguars with 17 points, while Hall scored 11.

The game was evenly matched. Both teams made 25 baskets and grabbed 32 rebounds. The Vikings finished with one more assist and one more turnover than the Jaguars.
