It's always a must-see, monumental happening when Duke faces rival North Carolina. Saturday's clash between the Tar Heels and No. 3 Blue Devils, however, will be among the most significant in the recent history of the storied rivalry. Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is taking his team to the Dean Dome for the final time for a battle with big-time ACC and national implications.

North Carolina (16-6, 8-3 ACC) is on a four-game winning streak that has breathed life into its NCAA Tournament hopes and put it in the thick of the ACC title race. A win over the arch rival Blue Devils would be a potentially season-defining moment for first-year head coach Hubert Davis and his squad, which has shown flashes of offensive brilliance to go along with too many defensive lapses.

Duke (18-3, 8-2) enters the game alone atop the conference standings but will need a victory to keep that status as it tries to gain separation from a chunky chase pack that features the Tar Heels, Miami, Notre Dame and Wake Forest. With freshman phenom Paolo Banchero leading the way, this team looks capable of helping Krzyzewski end his career on a solid note following last season's 13-11 season.

Duke vs. North Carolina prediction, picks

This is going to be a special scene as Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski patrols the sideline at the Dean Dome for the final time in a rivalry showdown between two teams on four-game winning streaks. The Blue Devils are fighting for first place in the ACC standings, while the Tar Heels are fighting for their NCAA Tournament chances. The Tar Heels are just a bit too shaky defensively to trust here. Prediction: Duke 79, North Carolina 75
