NCAA Tournament 2017: Kentucky blocks Wichita's last two shots to advance to Sweet 16
The Shockers couldn't get a shot to the basket on their final two possessions

No. 2 seed Kentucky got the battle many thought it would against 10-seed Wichita State in the round of 32 on Sunday. The Shockers were vastly under-seeded in the eyes of many, including our own Matt Norlander, and took the Wildcats down to the wire before Kentucky pulled out a 65-62 win.
The Wildcats did it with defense. With under 15 seconds left and up just one point, Wichita Stateâs attempt to take the lead failed when freshman Malik Monk secured his second block of the day to stifle the Shox, denying Markis McDuffie at the high point of his shot attempt.

On Wichita Stateâs next trip down the floor and Kentucky clinging to a one-possession lead, the Wildcats defense shut down the Shockers again. Wichita State got the ball into the hands of Landry Shamet, but 6-foot-11 Bam Adebayo made the decision to cheat off his man and blocked what could have been the game-tying 3-pointer.

The Wildcats are headed to the Sweet 16 after one of the more difficult second-round matchups in recent history, thanks to the heroic defense from the team late. They will play the winner of No. 3 seed UCLA and No. 6 seed Cincinnati.
