After graduating from Clemson in three years, McNeal looked to transfer for his final year of eligibility. He would have been allowed to play at Louisville this season, and he had been practicing with the team since Aug. 10.
McNeal had originally planned to attend Connecticut, but he was unable to gain admission, according to various reports. He then decided to become a Cardinal, though that decision turned out to be short-lived.
A one-time high school All-American, McNeal never fully recognized his potential. He only caught 20 passes for 195 yards in two seasons at Clemson.
Though the Louisville receiving corps has already lost leading returner Michaelee Harris, this will not be a major blow to a deep and athletic group. DeVante Parker, Eli Rogers and the emergence of freshman Charles Gaines has buoyed the unit, which figures to complement quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
