This is not the kind of impression James Sims was hoping to make on his new head coach.

The Kansas running back was arrested on campus early Sunday morning and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence. As a result, Sims has been suspended for the first three games of the season.

“Every player on our team knows and understands our rules and regulations,” said head coach Charlie Weis in a statement. “They also know the consequences for violations.”

Sims started all 12 games for the Jayhawks as a sophomore, leading the team with 727 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns.

He's rushed for 1,469 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career at Kansas.
