Who's Playing
Central Michigan @ Missouri
Last Season Records: Missouri 5-5; Central Michigan 3-3
What to Know
The Missouri Tigers and the Central Michigan Chippewas will face off at 4 p.m. ET Sept. 4 at Memorial Stadium at Faurot Field to kick off their 2021 seasons. Last year was nothing to brag about for Mizzou (5-5), so the team is looking forward to a new start. CMU struggled last season, too, ending up 3-3.
A couple last-season defensive stats to keep an eye on: The Tigers were 20th worst when it came to passing touchdowns allowed last year, with the squad giving up 21 overall (bottom 85%). CMU experienced some passing struggles of their own as they ranked eighth worst in the nation with respect to passing yards allowed per game last year, where the team gave up 297.2 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
Mizzou has the odds in their favor, so they'll need to guard against complacency. These early season matchups can go either way as both teams get back into playing shape.
